From Where I Stand

How do you usually put together your #ootd? Do you decide you want to wear your new top, and choose the trousers and jacket to match? Well for me, with this outfit, it all started with the shoes.

Let's just take a moment to appreciate the beauty of my new booties. They tick all the boxes, ankle length, chunky heel which is high enough to give me a boost, but I can still run walk in them, and the luxury of the reptile print leather. The warm tones led me to swap my usual winter whites for pinky sunset hues - ranging from a tailored trench coat which will see me through to the Spring months, to this snuggly neopolitan striped faux fur stole which was a steal at under 20.

As well as the boots, Dune was also my go-to for my other leather accessories - you'll be seeing this structured handbag in many of my upcoming #ootds, as I swapped my more Summery backpack for the grey colour block tote. With three inside compartments, it's roomy enough for my daily essentials, and the chic grey colour perfectly compliments my winter wardrobe. As for the pom pom details - I added a keychain to my bag, as well as opting for these fun leather gloves - who said wrapping up warm can't be cute too!

Suede & Stripes

I could tell you that this is the last #OOTD featuring suede for a while on the blog, but I'd be lying. I don't even feel bad for the suede overload because honestly, I love it!

The 70s trend that's around at the moment means fringing, suede materials, stripes and vintage silhouettes. I'm yet to brave the bell sleeve but this A Line silhouette is an easy way of bringing a 70s touch to your look. For a Summer outfit I'm rocking my favourite suede skirt by ASOS - it seems to go with everything, it's not too tight fitting either, making it on-trend but still comfy. I styled it with a block stripe crop top by Oasis (which is currently 10 in the sale! OMG!) and this larger than life handheld leather bag from ASOS - also a sale gem down from 80 to just 38. To give myself that little height boost that I need, I wore my favourite white sandals from Next, and added my signature jewellery.

Have you been rocking suede this Summer? Scroll down for more outfit details!

Embroidered Detail

The moment I laid my eyes upon this embroidered kaftan, I knew it was the one.

The one for what you may ask? Great question. Well, you know those times when you have a gorgeous outfit but it just needs that extra something to really bring it to life? Or how about a skimpy holiday look but there's a cool breeze in the evenings that leaves you reaching for something to wrap around your shoulders? Let me tell you, I was surprised at how often I reached for this beauty while in Corfu, and even now back in the UK, it's been creeping into my Summer wardrobe.

Not only am I absolutely in love with the embroidered detail around the hem of this kaftan, but with the tassle detail as well, I am absolutely smitten. Oh, and did I mention that it's now in the sale for 25?! Yes, I probably should mention that. I paired it with my favourite Denim Shorts with suede tassle details (you can never have too many tassels), stepped into my favourite Metal Link Sandals  and added in a touch of elegance with my rose gold watch   I can't wait to wear this showstopper for my next few holidays, so snap it up before it's gone if you love this look as much as I do. Scroll down for all outfit details and links, and don't forget to follow me on Instagram as I head away for my next Summer adventure!

The Denim Day Dress

This week, I discovered a wardrobe staple that I never even knew I needed, and now I don't know how I lived without it.

It's this classic, belted denim day dress from Miss Selfridge, and I can tell you already that this is one which will be making a regular appearance in my daily #OOTDs. Not only does it embody that effortless everyday look that you want to wear every. single. day (not even exaggerating) but it can be dressed up with heeled sandals, or given a more relaxed day time feel with sandals, like I chose for this debut look.

As for the accessories, my new obsession are these Celine sunglasses which I snapped up from Smart Buy Glasses - every girl needs a pair of oversized, classic style sunglasses and this pair will be a style classic for years to come. They have a gorgeous subtle tortoiseshell finish and the subtle Celine detailing that every fashionista recognises!

The final detail for this outfit is my new favourite Estee Lauder lipstick which I raved about in yesterdays post - it's my new go-to shade for Summer and can guarantee that this won't be it's only appearance on the blog!

This outfit is one that i'll be sporting on a more than regular basis, for work, for play, and everything in between. Get all the details below!

How To Wear Colour

Walking down Marylebone high street at 6.45 in the afternoon, and it feels like every passer-by is craning their necks to get a look at me. Have I got lipstick on my teeth? Is my hair poking out at funny angles? No, the glances are of admiration, and then I realise that it's because of my dress. Wearing a shocking fuschia dress I stand out from the monochrome street and monochrome outfits of passers by, and it feels great. If I were in a film, I'd swish my hair, flash a dazzling smile, all thanks to upping the technicolour spectrum of my wardrobe.

It's curious - the world seems nonplussed by what I'm wearing. Is my choice of clothing linked with my personality? These people don't know me but by wearing this colour I feel liberated, I could be anyone I want to be. After experimenting with various brightly coloured dresses, it became apparent that regardless of the colour of your outfit (within reason), staples and the silhouette that suits you will be true no matter the colour of the garment. With broad shoulders and a long torso, I know that fit and flare shaped dresses are the most flattering for my shape, and whether it's black, lime green or dazzling pink, I know that it will work.

The cut and shape over the colour affect how comfortable I feel in what I'm wearing. Yes, black hides a multitude of sins but it also hides personality. Wearing colour is something we shouldn't be afraid of, we should remove the urge to blend in, step out of the shadows and wear something that makes you stand out from the crowd.

I attended a Colour Masterclass with Dove to celebrate their 100 Colours campaign, and here are the top tips that I picked up for How To Wear Colour.

Dress by Karen Millen at Selfridges   |   Shoes by Dorothy Perkins   |   Bracelet by Monica Vinader at Selfridges

Colour is the New Black.

1. Don't be afraid to pair prints, like these Dorothy Perkins heels, with bright colours. If you can find a hue from your dress to pick out in your accessories, then the bolder the better.

2. Nervous? Mix brights with neutrals, such as a colourful skirt with a stark white shirt for a more wearable feel.

3.  Don't let the colour wear you. Some people can get away with wearing all the colours of the rainbow at once and look fabulous, but for me, the colour would dominate. If you don't feel confident in a colour, don't wear it.

4. Start with accessories. Accessories bring an outfit together but they're perfect add-ons if you want to inject some colour into your outfit. Try out colourful accessories to introduce colour into your look but without spending a fortune!

5. Hold up coloured tops near your face. In the bright store lights, recognise how one colour lights up your eyes and brightens your complexions, and others leave you feeling flat.

6. Confidence is key. You don't want to worry about things like deodorant marks, and Dove's Invisible Dry antiperspirant is proven to leave no white marks on 100 different colours, so you can wear your favourite colour with confidence!

7. Forget the rules, colours can clash! Blue and green, pink and orange. Some of the most striking colour combinations can look fabulous, but you need the attitude to match!

8. Use colour to shock. Working in a coroprate environment? An instant conversation started could be bright red shoes or a fluorescent yellow handbag, helping you stand out in a sea of grey (think Elle Woods on the steps of Law School in Legally Blonde!).
