The Autumn Ensemble

Autumn weather simply demands for a pair of crisp denim jeans, and soft textures against the skin.

You know that feeling, on a chilly Autumnal morning - the desire to pull out your knits, plaids, scarves and every other layer you can find. The obsession with Autumn dressing begins with the perfect pair of denim skinnies, the pair that will become the staple piece for many Autumnal ensembles to come. Enter this pair which tick all the boxes; the fit is perfect (tight fitting) they don't stretch after just a few wears, and they were a steal at just �22. 

My quintessential Autumn outfit continues with my greatest fashion find of the season so far; this soft faux shearling waterfall gilet in a neutral brown shade, with an unbelievable price tag of under �30. Available in a light pink shade too, it adds an effortlessly chic finish to this outfit, as well as keeping in the warmth. A simple cotton blouse is a wardrobe essential. With the soft material, relaxed fit and rolled sleeves, this little number is yet another staple piece.

I'm still obsessed with my Chloe Faye dupe bag, perhaps one day i'll own the original, but for now? I can't stop reaching for this little beauty. Finishing the look is a pair of suede lace-up heels to add a touch of glamour to the ensemble.

As for the finer details, I chose my delicate Pandora ring and this All-Seeing-Eye necklace which is part of Swarovski's upcoming collection with Miranda Kerr.

Seventies Style

This outfit is characterised by all kinds of Seventies details.

From the glamorous statement Seventies style wide leg trousers, to my absolute favourite new summer bag - my Chloe Faye dupe. It seems at the moment I'm really drawn to seventies details, and this #OOTD is my favourite way of pulling the trend together.

Cat-eyed sunglasses are my accessory of choice for a bright, warm day in London, and add a touch of feminine 70s glamour. This pair were a steal from Topshop, and I find myself reaching for them over my pricier pairs time and time again. 

The geometric trousers steal the show, the high waisted design gives a leg lengthening effect, and you  instantly feel like you've pulled together a fabulous outfit just from this one statement piece. I chose a plain white blouse to pair with the trousers, and my current favourite brown sandals to complete the look. For more outfit details, keep scrolling!

Summer in the City

This is probably one of my most worn outfits on the blog to date. My go-to Summer work outfit, with just the finer details changing up from day to day.

It's clean, effortless, chic, and also very professional, and the best part? Each piece is less than �50 from Dorothy Perkins. The retailer has been my one-stop-shop for Summer work wear over the past few months, with cute office friendly classics and chic Summer staples a-plenty.

This gorgeous white blouse is lightweight, with gorgeous clean lines (I have to admit I've already worn it twice this week, and it's Monday, so go figure!) and it's available in numerous colour options. These fabulous brown sandals are the perfect style for a flattering silhouette, leg lengthening look and for giving your office #OOTD a professional polish.

As for the Red Paper Bag Shorts, if you're bold enough to wear shorts in an office environment, then don't be afraid to shout about it! I chose this eye catching bright pair with a flattering 'paper bag' waist detail to add a pop of colour to this neutral look.

A Striped Affair

Today it's all about this black and white striped jumpsuit.

The minute I laid my eyes on this cute little number, I knew it had to be mine. It's daring, but still wearable, makes a statement, but is super comfortable. It's a lovely forgiving material which hugs your figure in all the right places, and the bold pattern but wearable shape had won me over right from the word Go.

I paired the Jumpsuit from Miss Selfridge with casual basics, that can be paired with essentially any summer chic outfit. My new favourite Dorothy Perkins heels just about poke out - their neutral colour means I can match them with all kinds of Summer combinations.

As for my watch, I'm wearing my favourite Olivia Burton, but I also recently discovered the watch selection that Tesco has to offer and let's just say it really surprised me! While it may not previously have been my number one choice for my wrist wear, their ladies watch selection satisfies all my Rose Gold and crystal desires. Next time you're on the site picking up your almond groceries, nip over to the watch section too - you might just be pleasantly surprised! With this look I'd choose the Kennett Savro leather watch with it's charming traditional face and black and white detail to match my monochrome jumpsuit.

My newest jewellery obsession is this delicate rose gold and diamante ring from Wanderlust + Co, my friends can't believe me when they find out how much it is - I've definitely discovered a gem!

How To Wear Colour

Walking down Marylebone high street at 6.45 in the afternoon, and it feels like every passer-by is craning their necks to get a look at me. Have I got lipstick on my teeth? Is my hair poking out at funny angles? No, the glances are of admiration, and then I realise that it's because of my dress. Wearing a shocking fuschia dress I stand out from the monochrome street and monochrome outfits of passers by, and it feels great. If I were in a film, I'd swish my hair, flash a dazzling smile, all thanks to upping the technicolour spectrum of my wardrobe. 

It's curious - the world seems nonplussed by what I'm wearing. Is my choice of clothing linked with my personality? These people don't know me but by wearing this colour I feel liberated, I could be anyone I want to be. After experimenting with various brightly coloured dresses, it became apparent that regardless of the colour of your outfit (within reason), staples and the silhouette that suits you will be true no matter the colour of the garment. With broad shoulders and a long torso, I know that fit and flare shaped dresses are the most flattering for my shape, and whether it's black, lime green or dazzling pink, I know that it will work.

The cut and shape over the colour affect how comfortable I feel in what I'm wearing. Yes, black hides a multitude of sins but it also hides personality. Wearing colour is something we shouldn't be afraid of, we should remove the urge to blend in, step out of the shadows and wear something that makes you stand out from the crowd.

I attended a Colour Masterclass with Dove to celebrate their 100 Colours campaign, and here are the top tips that I picked up for How To Wear Colour.

Colour is the New Black.

1. Don't be afraid to pair prints, like these Dorothy Perkins heels, with bright colours. If you can find a hue from your dress to pick out in your accessories, then the bolder the better.

2. Nervous? Mix brights with neutrals, such as a colourful skirt with a stark white shirt for a more wearable feel.

3.  Don't let the colour wear you. Some people can get away with wearing all the colours of the rainbow at once and look fabulous, but for me, the colour would dominate. If you don't feel confident in a colour, don't wear it.

4. Start with accessories. Accessories bring an outfit together but they're perfect add-ons if you want to inject some colour into your outfit. Try out colourful accessories to introduce colour into your look but without spending a fortune!

5. Hold up coloured tops near your face. In the bright store lights, recognise how one colour lights up your eyes and brightens your complexions, and others leave you feeling flat. 

6. Confidence is key. You don't want to worry about things like deodorant marks, and Dove's Invisible Dry antiperspirant is proven to leave no white marks on 100 different colours, so you can wear your favourite colour with confidence!

7. Forget the rules, colours can clash! Blue and green, pink and orange. Some of the most striking colour combinations can look fabulous, but you need the attitude to match!

8. Use colour to shock. Working in a coroprate environment? An instant conversation started could be bright red shoes or a fluorescent yellow handbag, helping you stand out in a sea of grey (think Elle Woods on the steps of Law School in Legally Blonde!).
