Autumn Comforts

There are so many reasons to love Autumn - whether you love the crisp cool air, golden leaves, or snuggling up in your favourite knitwear. Another reason to love Autumn is allowing yourself some little luxuries, so get cosy because today I've compiled my ultimate Autumn comforts to make the next few months feel like the snuggliest Autumn ever!

- SKINCARE -

Firstly, Autumn skincare. I absolutely love the luxurious texture and sumptuous softness of the products that I use in Autumn. Your skincare should be switched up to comfort your skin after it has been exposed to the harsh elements of Autumn! Wind, rain and a drop in temperatures mean your skin should be nourished with a luxurious cleanser such as the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel which is gentle on the skin and also nourishes and repairs skin from environmental damage, leaving your complexion feeling clean, balanced and heavenly soft.

Another staple in my routine is the new Clinique Moisture Surge Melting Mask Balm. When the harsh weather leaves skin feeling dry and irritated, the balm works to restore comfort and radiance back into your skin. I apply as a 10 minute mask once a week, or leave it on overnight when my skin needs some extra attention. Also part of the new Clinique All About Oils collection is the Smart Treatment Oil which I've been applying onto skin after cleansing for some serious conditioning and repair, together they leave my skin looking and feeling lovely and plumped and nourished instead of sad and chapped!

The product that I most look forward to using in the evenings is the new Darphin 8-Flower Nectar Oil Cream. A hybrid between an oil and a cream, it has a similar heavenly scent to the Darphin oils which I've raved about previously on the blog and transforms from a sumptuous cream to a delicious oil when massaged onto the skin. Ideal for this time of the year, skin immediately feels comforted and thoroughly moisturised - plus as with other Darphin products it feels like an absolute luxury to use.

- EVERYDAY COMFORTS -

In Autumn, it's often the simple details that can bring the ultimate luxury and comfort. Aside from Dexter (who is the greatest hot water bottle / cold evening snuggler in the world), a few things which make me feel warm and cosy include my super-soft Emu slippers, and even softer New Look dressing gown, and, a new discover; the Hotel Chocolat Salted Caramel Drinking Chocolate which really does taste as good as it sounds!

- BATHTIME TREATS -

A bath is a luxury which I try to afford myself once a week, making the time to soak in the tub is the ultimate Autumn Comfort and choosing some lovely bath products can make it a seriously luxurious experience! I've been trying out some new Bath Oils recently with heavenly fragrances, including the Aromatherapy Associates Bath & Shower Oil which contains heavenly ingredients such as chamomile and lavender which help to instantly relax you while also clearing the mind. It's exclusive to Liberty, and if you look closely you can see that my little bottle is even personalised with my initials engraved in the top corner! The Dr Hauschka Bath Essence is another with a scrumptious scent - I always thought this brand was super expensive but this Bath Essence is under 10! It's designed for recovering from cold and windy days, with oils which bring long-lasting warmth to your body, inside and out!

Various Lush products have found their way into my bathroom recently after I discovered their range at the Christmas Launch event, and bath times have been hugely improved with their bath bombs including these vanilla scented Five Gold Rings bubble bars which soften the skin while you soak.

After bathing, I reach for my most luxurious body lotions, and my current fave is is the Aerin Amber Musk body lotion, yet another product with a gorgeous fragrance which lingers on the skin for hours after application.

- Bedside Luxuries -

The greatest part of chilly Autumn evenings is snuggling up under the duvets, preferably with a Netflix series ready for viewing! Lighting a candle or two and misting the room with a calming spray is the greatest thing for a cosy evening, and Neom have released a Tranquility range; the English Lavender, Basil and Jasmine candle and matching Pillow Mist. Part of their Scent to Sleep initiative, the fragrances are all chosen for their sleep inducing properties and even after the most stressful day, it's hard not to feel utterly relaxed once the room is filled with the lovely fragrances!

What are your Autumn Comforts?

How to look after your skin in your Twenties

Hiding the signs of a late night on Tinder, or an even later night with Netflix, wondering when you need to start using anti-agin skincare but still not wanting to fork out on super pricey lotions and potions - skincare in your 20s is a bit of a nomads land. What are our skins needs, and how should you fulfil them?

Well, it's never too early to look after your skin and it's important that you tailor your approach to your skin's needs. In your 20s, your skincare should work to keep your complexion clear while preventing premature aging, and here are my favourite products which do just that.

If you don't cleanse your face at night, start. As in, tonight. That gorgeous mask of makeup, skin oils and dirt (gross, sorry) that end up on your face at the end of a long day lead to far more than just the odd spot - but also premature lines, wrinkles and creepiness due to the free radicals that float in the air ( all those bus exhausts etc ). To get rid of the grime, I love the Clinique Take The Day Off cleansing oil which melts makeup, oil and impurities, and is such a dreamy soft consistency that it's a pleasure to use in the evenings, meaning I'm never tempted to skip my cleanse.

If you're battling with dull skin, enlarged pores and you're noticing that the texture of your skin isn't quite as perky as it used to be, don't panic. You're not alone. These may be the  first signs that your skin isn't going to be as forgiving as it used to be, but don't worry, Origins have got us covered. Their new range is designed for your skin's 'quarter life crisis' and my favourite product is the Original Skin Renewal Serum with willow herb, which helps bring the vibrancy back to your complexion with ingredients such as Persian Silk Tree (to help skin rebound), Chestnut seed extract (to smooth roughness), Willowherb (to bring back the glow) and Algae (to shrink pores). While it doesn't have powerful anti aging properties, the serum is your best bet for keeping skin looking its best while you're skin is not quite ready for anti-aging, but you're already thinking about the future of your skin.

Now this applies to all ages, but by using an SPF every day, your skin can be better protected from aging caused by the sun's UV rays, which can lead to anything from wrinkles to sun spots. The Estee Lauder DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxident & UV Defence SPF 50 not only has the longest name known in the entire history of skincare products, but works wonders on your skin too. The broad spectrum high SPF protects the skin, keeping it looking younger for longer, but it also contains an effective antioxidant which is proven to fight the apprearance of free radical damage - so an essential if you live in a city. It's a gorgeous lightweight formula that you can apply over the top of your moisturiser as the final step in your skincare routine, and it leaves skin feeling smooth and comfortable, and not clogged up like so many SPF lotions can do.

And finally, learn from the mistakes of previous generations and make sure you wear an eye cream every.single.day. The skin around your eyes is incredibly thin and delicate, and even just a few minutes of sun exposure here and there can add up to wrinkles, but so many eye creams mess up your makeup, and we use them for a week, then decide we prefer having concealer under our eyes any way. Enter Bobbi Brown's Hydrating Eye Cream. A lightweight eye cream which plumps and moisturises the under eye area, but it's also super fast absorbing and leaves the skin perfectly prepped for applying concealer. Apply daily with your fingers and gently pat around the eye area , and let Bobbi's blend of Enriched Mineral Water, and Aloe Vera and Witch Hazel hydrate and comfort the eye area.

New In : Clinique Cheek Pop Blusher

I may have just discovered the cutest blusher, ever! Literally the cutest little thing, and I'm happy to say that the quality of these adorable Cheek Pop blushers from Clinique lives up to their super cute packaging. Described by Clinique as vibrant yet natural looking cheek colours, these little pots of flowery fabulousness deliver a subtle hint of colour to cheeks with an unusual formula which is somewhere  in the middle of a cream, powder and maybe even mousse blush.

The beauty of the flower design meant that I almost didn't want to use them for a while, I love the feeling of when you use a product for the first time but I just didn't want to dislodge their beauty. But, that feeling didn't last long as I couldn't hold myself back from tucking in.

I have to say they are really unusual, not like the formula of any blusher I've ever tried before, they take quite a lot of brush swirling to pick up a decent ammount of product, and on the cheeks they give the glow of a cream blush, but the ease of application that you get from a powder.

The subtle pop of colour from the first application can easily be built up, or kept really natural looking, and the great thing is that the lovely vibrant colour doesn't fade away throughout the day.

Overall I think these blushers are seriously incredible, if you're in the blush market right now then you absolutely MUST try these. They're available in 8 shades at 17.00 each, available online and in most beauty concessions!

Have you tried the Clinique Cheek Pop Blushers?

Three Face Mask Favourites

I've been making a real effort to be kind to my complexion recently, this month I have been sticking to just one skincare brand to allow my skin to really become used to a routine (find out more about this here!) and I've been consciously eating more healthily and enjoying exercise on a regular basis. All of this has been resulting in a huge improvement for my skin, but even every now and then after a long day it still can look a little lack-lustre, and I just crave a thorough pampering when I get home!

My mask routine tends to vary depending on how my skin is behaving, do I need to unclog my pores after a day of wearing too much makeup? Or hydrate dry areas with a quenching mask? Sometimes I'll use more than one mask at a time, allowing each section of my face to get different benefits from a mask. Perhaps a clay mask to draw impurities from my T Zone, while a gel mask can hydrate my cheeks and forehead.

As part of my Anne Semonin skincare routine, I've been including their Gel Mask for those evenings when my skin needs cooling and refreshing (aka almost every evening after a stuffy commute home!). I apply it after removing my makeup, almost as soon as I get home, and leave the cooling mask on for sometimes up to an hour, letting the vitamins and essential oils inside work their magic at bringing back the glow and improving my skins elasticity.

Sometimes my skin just needs a more in-depth cleanse, if my pores are looking clogged for example, and I want to detox my skin. On days like this I reach for the Caudalie Instant Detox Mask which unlike many other clay masks, is pink, instead of grey/black. I love this if I'm concerned about pores because I don't have to worry about the colour of the mask 'staining' my pores. It works deep within the skin to pull out impurities, and pores are left noticeably smaller after using it. I apply a thin layer all over my face, and then rinse off using a warm wet flannel.

Sorry for the TMI, but at some points during the month, my skin is an exact mirror to how crappy I'm feeling and it's clogged up and seriously misbehaving. In emergency situations such as this when I've had a breakout, the Clinique Anti-Blemish face mask is a saviour. Not many face masks actually target blemishes directly, but this one from Clinique is actually medically formulated and it works to deep clean the pores from excess oil and dirt, so your skin is firstly less likely to blemish in the first place, but any imperfections will be smoother and less angry after using the mask. It also works to keep oil under control, so no more shiny forehead and chin half way through the day!

What are your favourite face masks? Have you tried any of these?

Whats In My Beach Bag?

I didn't think that filming a video could be this exciting, but I had so much fun filming my Whats In My Beach Bag video - really getting into the Summer spirit! We are heading off to Corfu in just over a week, and yep, I've already packed up my beach bag! These are the pieces that I'll be taking with me on our days away from the villa, and there's quite a lot as we tend to spend the whole day away from the villa, out and about on the boats hopping from bay to bay.

Hope you enjoy the video! If you pop over after reading this post then be sure to leave a comment mentioning that you came from the blog!
